At the Airport

Face mask

It is now mandatory for all passengers to wear a face mask or covering to fly with us

Airports have introduced new measures to ensure physical distancing and reduced contact from check-in to security. When you arrive at the airport you'll see protective screens, hand hygiene stations and our staff wearing face masks.

Check in

We recommend checking in online and using self-service and bag drop facilities where available - all to minimise contact.

Boarding will now be in small groups at a time, and according to your seat row number. At the boarding gate you can now scan your own boarding card, and show your passport or ID to the Aer Lingus staff, making this process contactless. Our new boarding process means that priority boarding is no longer available.

Thermal screening

Thermal screening (skin temperature check) may be in operation at some airports depending on various local state regulations. Guests who fail a thermal screening or are identified as symptomatic will be refused travel.

Aer Lingus lounges

Due to Covid-19 restrictions Aer Lingus lounges are closed temporarily. Partner lounges may also be closed.
Onboard the flight

Face mask

It is now mandatory for all passengers to wear a face mask or covering to fly with us. Our Cabin Crew will also be wearing face masks for the duration of your flight.
Face coverings can be reusable cloth masks or disposable masks. We recommend that these are worn from when you enter your departure airport, to when you leave your destination airport.
Young children who are not able to maintain a face covering are exempt from this requirement.

Meals and beverages

Inflight services including food and drink are suspended on flights within Europe while a reduced service is available on transatlantic flights - with contactless payment for any purchases.

Cabin service

There will be reduced passenger movement in the cabin throughout all our flights.

Aircraft cleaning

We have introduced an enhanced cleaning system on all of our aircraft. The interior of every plane is thoroughly disinfected daily. All of our aircraft are fitted with state of the art air filtration used in operating theatres in hospitals.
Hospital grade disinfectant is used to spray treat all:
Seat Coverings
Overhead Lockers
Hard surfaces will be deep cleaned daily by hand including:
Tray Tables
Arm Rests

Air Filtration

All our Airbus aircraft are fitted with state of the art air filtration technology. These are the same air filters that are used in operating theatres in hospitals.
How effective is it?
99.97% of airborne particles such as viruses and bacteria are removed.
Cabin air is replaced every 3 minutes.
Aircraft air supply is essentially sterile and particle-free.
