At the Airport

Face mask

It is compulsory to wear a surgical mask or a face mask (covering your nose, mouth and chin) at all times.


Check in online for those flights in which this option is available. The Air India App provides some capability for passengers.
Maintain the minimum physical distancing indicated by the signs.
Some random passenger temperature checks may be made during the check-in procedure.
All check-in counters are equipped with Plexiglas protective screens.


Air India continues to practise priority and pre-boarding options.

Hand baggage

No restrictions are placed on taking hand luggage onboard other than dimension restrictions previously in place.

Air India lounge

International Air India lounges are currently opening up in a phased manner.
In order to protect your health, additional sanitary measures are in place, including the wearing of surgical masks, hydroalcoholic gel dispensers and the observation of physical distance.
Packaged snacks and individual beverages are now available
Shower/ spa facilities are not open to passengers.
Onboard the flight

Air India reminds passengers to take the following:
Several surgical masks to wear for the duration of your trip
Disposable single-use tissues
Bottle of hand sanitizer (<100ml)

Face mask

It is compulsory to wear a surgical mask or a face mask (covering your nose, mouth and chin) at all times.


Appropriate hand sanitisation and mask disposal should be practised onboard and staff will advise appropriately.
Passengers are provided with hand sanitising wipes.


Service standards remain very basic onboard Air India and there is a minimal service concept provided onboard to passengers.

Meals & beverages

In the cabin

Staff utilise full PPE onboard and will be conducting more regular checks and sanitisation of washrooms areas and aircraft touchpoints.
All aircraft use HEPA filters which are guaranteed to eliminate 99,99% of microparticles within the cabin. This ensures air is circulated/ renewed every 3 minutes.
Cleaning of all hard surfaces, e.g. tablets, armrests, screens, remote controls, baggage compartments, windows and toilets.

General advice

It is the responsibility of individual passengers to check specific regulations and show appropriate documentation prior to travelling.
Requirements to India are stringent for a number of countries to provide negative PCR (Covid) tests not less than 72 hours prior to your flight. Passengers should check the Indian Government websites for the latest requirements.
