At the Airport

In the airport

In all waiting areas there are markings on the floor to ensure a minimum distance of 1.5 meters.
Only every second seat can be used in the waiting areas.
In addition, trained personnel are on site to draw attention to the minimum distance where necessary.
When shopping in the stores at the airport, we kindly ask you to pay for your purchases without cash.
At check-in counters, ticket counters and wherever there is direct contact between you and staff, Plexiglas panes serve to protect your health.
At many airports you can also check in contactlessly at appropriate kiosks or with your smartphone and check in your luggage contactlessly via the Fast Bag Drop.

Hand baggage

The less baggage you carry-on will result in a reduction in waiting times and less follow-up checks at the security checkpoint. The boarding and deboarding process will be faster and frictionless.

Boarding

To better allow for personal distancing, boarding procedures have been updated so guests board by row numbers in smaller groups from the back to the front. There may be interruptions to avoid queues forming onboard/ in jetbridge.
The suspension of priority boarding is only intended for short-haul flights. For long-haul flights, Austrian still offer priority boarding.
Self-scan your boarding pass and show your travel document to the boarding agent.
Lounges

Austrian lounges

The local supply of food at Vienna International Airport will continue. Supermarkets are open as usual. The Austrian Business Lounge in the Schengen area of Terminal 3, the duty-free shops at the F and G gates and one restaurant each at the F and G gates are also open (as of October 6, 2020).
Onboard the flight

Face mask

Masks must be worn during your journey with Austrian Airlines. Wear your mask - like the crews - on board during your entire stay.
The airline can only accept exceptions to the masking requirement if a current (not older than 48 hours) negative PCR test result is provided in conjunction with a medical certificate on the Lufthansa Group form

Service onboard

In order to minimize contact between people on board, current in-flight service has been adapted and simplified.
The Business Class Service remains mostly unchanged. Only service components have been adapted to protect our customers and our crew.

Seating

No guest will be rejected in order to keep the neighbouring seat free.
Cleaning

In the cabin

Air filters supply a complete exchange of fresh air approximately every three minutes. The resulting excellent air quality, in combination with a face mask, offers so much protection that it is not essential to maintain minimum distances to passengers in neighboring seats.
The frequency and intensity of cabin cleaning have been increased. This applies in particular to tables, armrests, seat belts, toilets and door handles.
Arrivals

Deplaning

Upon landing, passengers will need to adhere to the disembarkation instructions as advised by the cabin crew and observe the health and safety measures set by the authorities at the country of destination.
When you land, please keep your face mask on until you have left the airport terminal.

General information

Please inform yourself in advance about the entry and quarantine regulations of your destination.
At various airports, including Vienna International Airport, a health check (such as measurement of body temperature) is currently carried out when arriving at the destination.
At the moment, those arriving in Vienna also have the opportunity to be tested for COVID-19. Thanks to a PCR test, the result is available within a few hours. Registration and information can be found online.
