At the Airport

Face mask

You must wear a face mask whilst you travel and wash your hands at regular intervals.
The airline recommends that children aged two to five wear a mask as much as they possibly can. Children aged six or older must wear a mask at all times, wash their hands regularly and follow social distancing guidelines as much as possible.

Check-in

Allow extra time at the airport for health checks.
At check-in counters agents will be stationed at a distance from one another.
Try to complete check-in online or via the Etihad app.

Other guidance

Only travelers will be allowed to enter the airport. If you need special assistance may be accompanied by someone.
Wellness Ambassadors are located at Abu Dhabi Airport and on board all flights, and via live online chat before you travel .
You must have a COVID-19 PCR test before you fly with Etihad Airways, issued by any government accredited medical facility a maximum of 96 hours before your flight departure time.
COVID-19 global wellness cover (insurance) is included with every ticket
Transfer buses, coaches and cars are deep-cleaned and sanitised after every trip.

Hand luggage

Passengers will only be permitted to carry a personal item on board weighing up to 5kg, such as a handbag or laptop bag. Your cabin baggage will be checked in at the airport. This applies if you are flying in Economy, Business or First.

Boarding

Scan your own boarding pass
Gate jetty and boarding stairs are sanitised before every flight
There’ll be more space between you and other guests when you board
Priority boarding is available.
Lounges

Our lounges

Etihad has reopened some of our airport lounges, all with enhanced safety measures to keep you protected.
Social distancing measures are in place across our lounges
Food and drinks served according to COVID-19 regulations
Lounge staff will wear personal protective equipment at all times
Onboard the flight

Sanitiser

Wellness Kits are now available on board for all guests, including a face mask, gloves and hand gel.

Meals & beverages

A refreshed meal service is offered. All of the food we prepare goes through rigorous testing, and Etihad serves it in line with strict COVID-19 guidelines.

Other information

Crew will wear face masks and personal protective equipment at all times.
Some changes to seat maps have been made to make sure that where possible, there’s more space between you and other guests.
When you’re on board, the airline asks that you stay in your seat as much as possible, and only change seats if you are asked to do so by the crew.
Cleaning

Our aircraft

All aircraft are equipped with high-efficiency filters (HEPA), which purify up to 99.97% of virus and bacteria particles. In addition, its cabin air recirculation system renews the air every 2-3 minutes and its vertical displacement prevents it from being shared with passengers on the sides and in front.
Additional enhanced cabin cleaning procedures, especially for windows, tray tables, armrests, seat belt buckles, overhead bin handles, and entertainment centers.
Washrooms undergo additional checks during the flight.

Arrivals

Deplaning

Upon arrival at your destination, stay in your seat and wait your turn to get off the aircraft.

Other guidance

In transit in Abu Dhabi, you’ll be directed to a secure area of the airport terminal. Please remember to keep your face mask on, and follow the new measures that have been put in place to keep you protected.
Etihad conducts deep clean and sanitise all of the aircraft on arrival at each destination.
Airport teams and crew are routinely tested at our hub in Abu Dhabi.
