At the Airport

Face mask

A face mask covering mouth and nose is required during the entire flight, from boarding to disembarkation. This applies to all of our flights.
We require you to bring your own face mask. Children younger than 6 years are exempted from this rule.
A face mask is only valid for four hours. This means you will have to bring as many face masks as you need during your travel. Remember that you might need an extra mask upon arrival.

Check-in

Keep social distancing on your trip to the airport

Hand baggage

To help speed up the boarding process and avoid unnecessary movement in the cabin, we are limiting the number of allowed carry-on pieces to 1 piece per traveler.

Boarding

The boarding procedures have been adjusted to better enable social distancing. We require you to follow the instructions given by the gate staff.
You should only start boarding when your zone is called out. You will be required to put on your face mask before boarding.
We will board the aircraft starting with travelers seated at the rear of the cabin. Boarding groups will be strictly enforced, and we kindly ask you to only approach the gate when your boarding group is called out.
Lounges

SAS lounges

We are now opening a selected number of our lounges after having them closed since mid-March.
New routines and an updated food and beverage offering in the lounges that are open to minimize interactions, and extended cleaning procedures have been implemented
Onboard the flight

Meals & beverages

Due to the current situation we have temporarily suspended all food and beverage service on board SAS flights within Europe except EU flights to/from Copenhagen over 80 min.
On flights exceeding 2.5 hours, there will be a small bottle of water in your seat upon boarding.
Effective from 1 October, on all EU flights to/from Copenhagen over 80 min, passengers will be offered limited food and beverage service on board. Please note that the onboard offering of food and beverage will be different than what you are used to when traveling with us.
If you are traveling outside of Europe, there will be two food servings regardless of travel class. Please note that the onboard offering of food and beverage will be temporarily limited and will be different than what you are used to when traveling with us.
You are allowed to bring light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages on board SAS flights. Examples of light snacks include a chocolate bar, a sandwich or similar. When eating the light snack, you may remove the required face mask, as long as it is put on again as soon as you are done. No ready made and/or take away food will be allowed to bring on board.
We have implemented these measures to limit the contact associated with handling waste from consumption of food and beverages onboard.
Cleaning

Our aircraft

Almost all our aircraft are equipped with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters that are capable of capturing up to 99.97% of microbes, like viruses and bacteria, ensuring a high air quality.
The air on board is exchanged every 2-3 minutes. The air on board is pressed down from the ceiling to the floor. This makes it difficult for droplets to spread, as the air flow makes droplets immediately fall to the floor immediately.
All our Airbus and Boeing aircraft are equipped with HEPA filters. Flights operated with ATR aircraft has another type of air filter on board, which ensures a continuous flow of fresh air to the cabin.
Arrivals

Deplaning

We will disembark travelers from front to rear by groups as well.
