Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport is awarded 4-Star Airport Rating

Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport has been Certified as a 4-Star Airport by international air transport rating agency Skytrax, after completing an extensive programme of improvements to facilities and service across the airport.

The fifth busiest airport in China, all flights operate from Terminal 3 which was opened in November 2013. Primarily a domestic airport, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport was handling over 50 million passengers annually before COVID-19 and growing the number of international routes and airlines. Domestic flights have returned to very robust levels by April 2021, and it is expected that international traffic will gradually resume as country borders open and permit travel. In 2022, the Terminal 3 satellite hall of ​​235,000 m2 will open, adding a further 22 million passenger capacity to the airport.

Commenting on the 4-Star Airport Certification, Edward Plaisted of Skytrax said: “This is a very deserved recognition of the many improvements that have been made at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport during the last 18 months. Recent improvements at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport include the introduction of interactive Information Kiosks across the airport, adding power facilities to departure area seating, relaxed seat areas in several parts of the terminal, new stores including Cartier and Burberry and extended food and beverage outlets. Combined with this, some important signage and wayfinding improvements have made the terminal more customer friendly.

4-Star airport Rating for Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport

The airport signage and wayfinding has been improved, along with enhanced FIDS across many parts of the airport, and the overall customer experience is now rated at a very high standard.

Technological innovation is a distinctive feature of the airport, now providing self-service check-in and baggage drop, face verification and customs clearance, face-check boarding, etc.

Following the launch of the baggage tracking and reconfirmation system, departing travellers from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, can check the real-time transportation status of checked baggage on their mobile phone while waiting for the flight, and on arriving to Shenzhen Airport, you can get the location and arrival time of your baggage via your mobile phone when you get off the plane.

ABOUT SHENZHEN BAO’AN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport has advanced facilities, Terminal 3  is 451,000 square meters, and the cargo facility is 1,660,000 square meters. Terminal 3, which integrates architectural aesthetics, green energy conservation, and functional utility elements, was officially opened in November 2013. Terminal 3 covers a land area of 195,000 square meters, with a length of 1,128 meters from north to south, a width of 640 meters from east to west, and a total floor area of 451,000 square meters. It provides 62 bridge stands and 14 remote stands that are close to the terminal. The airport currently has two runways.
