At JetSMART we are honored to become the first low-cost airline in the region that has been certified, by such a prestigious institution as Skytrax, complying with the highest safety standards that JetSMART offers to each of our customers.”
The COVID-19 Safety Audit conducted by Skytrax assessed all safety and hygiene protocols introduced by JetSMART during COVID-19 to enhance customer and staff safety. The COVID-19 Safety Rating evaluates front-line facilities and service to determine how effectively and consistently COVID-19 procedures are being provided, including airport and onboard cleanliness, hygiene and disinfection procedures, standard and usage conformity of staff PPE, Covid signage and information, application of social distancing, hand sanitiser facilities, PA guidance, staff organisation and control of passenger flows, controlling face mask usage and adapted service systems in both the airport and onboard flights.
Edward Plaisted of Skytrax said: “JetSMART has become the first low-cost airline in the America’s to gain this high standard, 4-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating. We are impressed with the level of consistency that JetSMART now provides in terms of safe handling systems for customers in both the airport and onboard travel environments, and the enhanced health, hygiene and safety protocols provided on JetSMART flights is meeting a high standard.”
From check-in to destination arrival, JetSMART introduced a range of controls to effectively monitor the correct use of masks, encourage customers to conduct appropriate personal hygiene, and observe physical distancing. Boarding and deplaning systems have been adapted, and the processes are well managed by staff in the airport and onboard each flight.
Onboard product and service features include efficient controls to ensure that safety objectives are achieved. Importantly, cleaning and disinfection measures for aircraft seats and frequently touched surfaces are consistent, in addition to an increased frequency and standard of sanitisation.
The airport safety assessments included check-in facilities, boarding and deplaning procedures, baggage claim and arrival processes. Evaluating the hygiene and cleanliness protocols, this evaluates the airline service processes for reducing customer and staff contact where practically possible.
The 4-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating recognises good airport processing standards that include some elements of contactless technology, customer handling, and social distancing protocols for check-in, boarding, and arrival. Onboard cleanliness and cabin presentation is at a good quality level which may use techniques for UV sanitisation, and mass disinfectant treatments which are scientifically evaluated. Most service systems for food and beverages sales are adapted for COVID-19 times, with some reduced contact delivery and enhanced food safety measures for meal presentation.
