Tokyo’s Narita International Airport has once again been certified with the 5-Star Airport Rating by SKYTRAX for 2025, reaffirming its position as one of Asia’s leading international gateways. The rating is recognition of the airport’s strong service delivery, excellent passenger facilities, and overall operational standards.

The 5-Star Airport rating is the highest mark of quality distinction awarded by SKYTRAX for an airport, and recognises very high standards of product and staff service across the different assessment categories in the airport environment.

The 2025 audit of Narita Airport observed improvements throughout all terminals, with ongoing attention given to accessibility, shopping and dining, and terminal design standards. A number of passenger-facing seating areas have been refined over the past year, and further enhancements are scheduled as part of Narita’s continuing modernisation programme. The reopening of the renewed Terminal 1 observation terrace in 2026 will add a further distinctive feature for travellers.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, said: “Narita Airport continues to provide a well-managed and consistently reliable passenger experience. Its clear focus on quality and regular investment in the passenger journey have been important to achieving the 5-Star Airport Rating for 2025.”

Retail and dining form a central part of the airport experience at Narita, and the terminals host a broad mix of international names alongside Japanese speciality outlets. Recent openings in Terminals 1 and 3 have broadened the offer further, while forthcoming refurbishments in selected units are expected to enhance presentation and capacity during peak periods.

Staff service continues to stand out as one of Narita’s strongest attributes. High levels of attentiveness, professionalism, and language capability are observed at key contact points, and reinforcing the airport’s reputation for care and customer support.

Excellent standards of cleanliness, accessibility, and customer assistance remain central to the airport’s performance and play a significant role in sustaining its 5-Star status, and ensuring it remains an efficient and nice place to travel.

Early in 2025, Narita achieved notable success in the World Airport Awards, where global travellers chose it as Best Airport serving 30–40 million passengers. This customer-voted accolade reflects widespread confidence in the airport’s service standards and the professionalism of frontline staff.
