Rome Ciampino G.B. Pastine Airport certified as a 4-Star Regional Airport
Rome Ciampino-Giovan Battista Pastine Airport has been certified as a 4-Star Regional Airport following a detailed quality audit conducted by SKYTRAX, the international air transport rating organisation.
The 4-Star Rating reflects a good standard across key passenger-facing areas including terminal comfort, cleanliness, wayfinding, staff service, security and immigration processing, and the overall consistency of the end-to-end passenger journey.
The terminal layout and facilities are geared to an LCC format that prioritises efficiency and throughput , whilst retaining strong standards across core passenger facilities. There is self-service check-in and bag drop, efficient security screening, and easy boarding arrangements that support a fairly quick customer flow.

Within this context, the airport delivers good standards across a range of supporting facilities. Retail and food and beverage provision is well structured for the terminal scale and passenger profile, and washroom facilities include a number of recently upgraded units, with remaining areas scheduled for refurbishment in early 2026 to achieve full consistency across the terminal.

“The 4-star Skytrax recognition awarded to Ciampino Airport,” said Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, “represents a further important milestone in the continuous improvement journey we are pursuing across the entire Roman airport system. G.B. Pastine plays a strategic role for Rome and for Italy, and has established itself among the most highly regarded airports in Europe in its category for quality and operational reliability. This achievement enhances the airport’s specific role within a dual-use operating environment, which requires the highest standards of efficiency, punctuality and reliability. The Skytrax certification recognises the value of teamwork and our ability to turn a long-term industrial vision into measurable results, with passenger experience and operational excellence firmly at the core ”.
There is a good quantity of seat power and charging facilities, together with nice workspace zones. Family facilities are well provided for a regional airport environment, and PRM / Customer assistance standards are well rated. The terminal includes engagement features such as table football, self-play musical instruments, and some dedicated children’s play areas .
Ground transportation provision is good, with well organised and affordable connections into central Rome and surrounding regions making this a very accessible gateway to the city.
Edward Plaisted, CEO of SKYTRAX, said, “The 4-Star Airport certification for Rome Ciampino reflects good standards across the passenger journey. The airport has made excellent progress during 2025 in updating passenger facilities, and with further developments to washrooms and the introduction of new nursery, smoking, and pet relief facilities in 2026, this is expected to further strengthen overall consistency and the quality of the airport experience.”
