Narita International Airport is Certified as a 5-Star Airport

Narita International Airport has been awarded the global 5-Star Airport Rating by SKYTRAX, the international air transport rating organisation.

Tokyo’s Narita International Airport has become the third Japanese airport to be awarded the 5-Star Airport Rating, which is certified by the international air transport rating organisation, SKYTRAX.

The 5-Star Airport rating is our highest mark of quality distinction awarded for an airport, and recognises very high standards of Product and Staff service across the different assessment categories in the Airport environment.

Narita International Airport has made a broad range of improvements to the infrastructure of its three operational terminals to improve the comfort of existing facilities, introduce new passenger experience concepts, and streamline the operations performance.

Skytrax apply ratings for up to 800 customer-facing areas of airport product and service, and this spans over 30 different customer contact points. The Star Rating methodology is unified and consistent for the industry, and all airports from the largest hubs to small regional facilities are assessed using the same base rating criteria which covers the front-line customer experience on the end-to-end journey through an airport.

Skytrax noted that the core elements of the airport operations deliver a very efficient and pleasant passenger journey, but the key reason we are now able to confirm this 5-Star Airport rating is because of the greatly improved consistency in the quality assessment areas. For areas such as seating, seat power, and terminal décor and ambience there is now much more cohesion in standards around the airport, and there are excellent enhancements that Narita has made to the retail and dining experiences, which remains world leading. Terminal cleanliness and presentation delivers a very high standard at all key touch points, and toilets facilities, baby care, and accessibility matters are also exemplary.

The interiors in Terminal 2 have been subject to a large-scale refresh in the gate hold rooms, and arrival areas for baggage reclaim. The airport has introduced many more seat types, new dining concepts, and expanded security processing facilities.

Terminal 3 which is a specialist section for low-cost carriers has been significantly expanded to enlarge the check-in facilities as well as new gate hold rooms, refreshed interiors and a yet to be opened dining extension for international flights.

Across the airport, the connectivity to downtown Tokyo and other nearby regions is excellent, as is the passenger journey for arrivals, departure and transfer.
