Hamad International Airport is named the World’s Best Airport for 2024
Doha’s Hamad International Airport has been named the World’s Best Airport 2024 in the World Airport Awards, held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Frankfurt on 17th April 2024. Hamad International Airport also won awards for the World’s Best Airport Shopping and the Best Airport in the Middle East.

The 2023 Airport of the Year and 12-times previous winner, Singapore Changi Airport, achieved 2nd place in the global ranking, winning awards for the Best Airport in Asia and the World’s Best Airport Immigration Service.
Seoul Incheon Airport, who moved up to third place in the global survey rankings, was named the World’s Most Family Friendly Airport for 2024.
Tokyo Haneda Airport was No 4 in the global ranking and maintained further outstanding results, being declared the World’s Cleanest Airport, the World’s Best Domestic Airport and as delivering the World’s Best Airport PRM & Accessible Facilities.
Other highlights from the 2024 ceremony included Tokyo Narita Airport being recognised for customer service, as they were named the World’s Best Airport Staff and Best Airport Staff in Asia. Elsewhere in Japan, New Chitose Airport was voted the World’s Most Improved Airport, after a much improved performance in the global survey, and across many of the category sections. Chubu Centrair International Airport, Nagoya, won the World’s Best Regional Airport award, and Kansai International Airport was recognised for the World’s Best Airport Baggage Delivery.
Rome Fiumicino Airport picked up the award for World’s Best Airport Security Processing, the first time they have received this accolade. Terminal A, Newark Liberty Airport achieved success as the World’s Best New Airport Terminal, after earlier receiving the highest 5-Star Airport Terminal Rating from Skytrax.
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport had excellent success, as its Terminal 3 facility was declared the World’s Best Low-Cost Terminal. Paris Charles de Gaulle was also named Best Airport in Europe for a second successive year. In further accomplishment for Group ADP, Paris Orly Airport was voted the Best Regional Airport in Europe, marking a fantastic performance improvement.
Istanbul Airport was voted World’s Best Airport Dining Experience and Best Airport in Southern Europe. Around Europe, Helsinki Vantaa Airport was the Best Airport in Northern Europe, and Budapest Airport was once again named Best Airport in Eastern Europe by the passenger vote.

We are a team that pulls in the same direction, and this continuous work produces results passengers clearly appreciate every year.”
Munich Airport maintained a very good performance in the survey, winning awards for Best Airport Staff Service in Europe and Best Airport in Central Europe. Munich Airport CEO Jost Lammers said: “We are particularly proud that our employees came out on top in Europe. This shows that Munich Airport is also perceived internationally as particularly hospitable. The awards are recognition of the commitment and hard work of our entire airport team.”
The Hilton Munich Airport was voted Best Airport Hotel in Europe for 2024.
Cape Town Airport and Durban King Shaka Airport were the major award winners in Africa, with Cape Town named Best Airport in Africa and Best Airport Staff Service in Africa. Durban King Shaka Airport took home the award for Best Regional Airport in Africa.
Houston Airport System was recognised as providing the World’s Best Airport Art for the second successive year at the awards, and Houston Hobby Airport was declared the Best Regional Airport in North America.
In China, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport won the award for Best Airport in China. Haikou Meilan International Airport was voted Best Regional Airport in China and Best Airport Staff in China. The Hyatt Regency Shenzhen was named the Best Airport Hotel in China.
Delhi International Airport was again triumphant as the Best Airport in India & South Asia, and its GMR parent, Hyderabad International Airport, was named Best Airport Staff Service in India & South Asia. Bangalore International Airport won the award for Best Regional Airport in India & South Asia. JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity was the Best Airport Hotel in India & South Asia.
Crowne Plaza Changi Airport was named World’s Best Airport Hotel, for the ninth time in the awards history; they also took home the award for Best Airport Hotel in Asia.
Baku Heydar Aliyev Airport repeated previous successes, winning awards for Best Airport in Central Asia & CIS and Best Airport Staff Service in Central Asia & CIS. Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport was, for the third time, declared Best Regional Airport in Central Asia & CIS.
Bahrain International Airport achieved notable success, recognised for providing the Best Airport Staff Service in the Middle East. Medina Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport was declared Best Regional Airport in the Middle East.
Dallas Fort-Worth Airport was a first time winner in the World Airport Awards, after it was recognised as providing the Best Airport Staff Service in North America.
Vancouver International Airport returned to the top of the region ranking, being named Best Airport in North America. “Regaining our top spot as Best Airport in North America is a result of the dedication and hard work of our employees and everyone working here at YVR to serve travellers and our community,” said Tamara Vrooman, President & CEO at Vancouver International Airport. “From the team greeting people at our front doors, to those who move cargo and bags, to security staff who keep us moving safely, to those to maintain and clean our facilities – 26,000 people work at our airport each and every day with pride and purpose. This recognition belongs to them, and I want to acknowledge and thank them for all their work this past year.”
The TWA Hotel JFK was voted by passengers as the Best Airport Hotel in North America.
Bogota El Dorado Airport maintained and improved its run of success in the customer survey, taking home awards for Best Airport in South America and Best Airport Staff Service in South America. Quito Mariscal Sucre Airport took top honours as Best Regional Airport in South America. San Jose Juan Santamaría Airport was declared the Best Regional Airport in Central America & Caribbean, in addition to achieving the Best Airport Staff Service in Central America & Caribbean award. Panama Tocumen Airport maintained its remarkable run in the survey, collecting the award for Best Airport in Central America & Caribbean.
Melbourne Airport was named Best Airport in Australia & Pacific for the second successive year; they were joined at the ceremony by Adelaide Airport, who received the award for Best Regional Airport in Australia & Pacific. Perth Airport accepted the Best Airport Staff Service in Australia & Pacific award.

THE WORLD AIRPORT AWARDS
The World Airport Awards are prestigious accolades for the airport industry, voted by customers in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey.
Operating since 1999, the World Airport Awards are independent and impartial, and provide a customer satisfaction study that is global in scope and coverage. They are regarded as a quality benchmark for the world airport industry, assessing customer service and facilities across over 570 airports. The survey and awards process is provided to airports at no cost.
The Awards are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers during the survey period, which operated from August 2023 to March 2024. The survey evaluated the customer experience across airport service and product key performance indicators – from check in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security / immigration through to departure at the gate.
