Tokyo International Airport Haneda a 5-Star Airport
Tokyo International Airport Haneda has been awarded the global 5-Star Airport quality ranking for the third consecutive year by SKYTRAX, the international air transport rating organisation.
The 5-Star Airport rating recognises high standards of Product and Staff service across different assessment categories in the Airport environment, and recognises that Tokyo Haneda International Airport is at the forefront in terms of service quality and consistency, and product and service innovation in the airport. Tokyo International Airport Haneda is the only Japanese airport to achieve this 5-Star Airport rating.
Tokyo International Airport Haneda received particularly high evaluations for it’s user-friendly terminal facilities, and was commended for the cleanliness and ambience of all passenger terminal areas.
Tokyo International Airport Haneda achieved the 5-Star Airport rating due to the fact that the airport meets so many 5-Star targets in terms of what an airport should be doing to look after and satisfy customers. The airport was praised for the very consistent standards of service efficiency and consistency, the excellent standards of cleanliness, and for making the process for both departing and arriving passengers as simple as possible.
The domestic Terminals (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2) continue to set global Best Practice levels for the quality of shopping and food and beverage outlets located landside, and the International Terminal is well established as a 5-Star Terminal. The introduction of seat-side power charging facilities and recliner seating pods in the international terminal underlines the airport’s attention to ensuring the customer experience remains at the highest level. New Customer Service / Information counters have been added, and the airport is clearly gearing itself towards the influx of customers expected for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
excellent standards of cleanliness
The websites for both the domestic and international terminals have been improved during 2016, and provide a user-friendly experience for customers. Skytrax stress that it is also the smaller items of service or product that can help distinguish an airport. For example, whilst waiting for luggage in the international terminal, video screens at each bag carousel show a very informative and helpful video that explains to customers all different transportation options, transferring between terminals and more.
Haneda Airport is split in operational terms, with Japan Airport Terminal Co managing and operating the Domestic Terminals 1 & 2, and Tokyo International Air Terminal Corporation managing and operating the International Terminal.
The airport has become increasingly popular for both Japanese and international customers due to it’s close proximity to downtown Tokyo.
Skytrax completed the quality audit checks of Haneda International Airport in September 2016, examining in detail all product and service delivery areas across the terminal operational features.
